High Jump Question 1

How can I execute an efficient biomechanics and techniques of high jump to optimise performance?

  1. To jump at a good distance away from the bar, the distance changes with the person so there is no definite distance. During the jump, one should twist in order to move a greater distance by using it's momentum. Most importantly, one should try to get their centre of gravity to it's maximum height when the athlete is directly over the bar

  2. We should try and go as close to the bar as possible and then jump and the rest has been covered by Sean

  3. Well jump as nearest as possible to the bar.And practice practice practice. And different techniques such as straddle jump,Scissors jump and the Fosbury Flop may help but people prefer different techniques

  4. We should jump near to the bar as possible. We should also have methods like the Fosbury Flop to keep to increase the airtime to jump a greater height.

  5. We should try and gain momentum just like Sean said and go as close to the bar as possible as Kevyn said. Also, we should use our toes to propel ourselves upwards into the air (I think:P) so that we can jump higher.

  6. We should first gain momentum while we're sprinting towards the bar and go as close as possible and jump as high as we can using techniques mentioned above like Straddle Jump, Scissors jump and the Fosbury Flop.

  7. We should start running at a fast pace before reaching the pole to gain momentum and jump as close as possible to the pole. we should also try out different techniques and find out which one you prefer

  8. We need to jump as near as possible but not too near, and the distance depends on a person so there is no definite distance. Like what Sean had said, during the jump, one should twist in order to move a greater distance by using it's momentum. Most importantly, one should try to get their centre of gravity to it's maximum height when the athlete is directly over the bar

  9. We should sprint to gain momentum, then jump your highest when it is the right distance (not too far, not too near). But this jump is a very steep jump which will need practice. Like what Sean said, during the jump, one should twist in order to move a greater distance by using it's momentum. Most importantly, one should try to get their centre of gravity to it's maximum height when the athlete is directly over the bar.

  10. sprint first to gain speed and when lifting off, lift off as near as possible to the math so as to be at the highest level possible from the ground when at the rope. When jumping, use your stronger leg to lift off and swing your other leg as high as possible over the rope, followed by your stronger leg. When landing, make sure to tug in your hands so as to prevent the impact of your hand slamming into the mat hurt you arm :) during the whole high jump activity, do not wear watches to prevent cuts and for easier movement :p

  11. We should use our momentum to jump but also we must know which type of jump we are doing and which is our preferred foot. Also we must not wear watches and tuck in our arms when we land.

  12. We have to reach as close as possible to the bar then jump, use our preferred foot to jump and we have to make sure we tuck in our hands when landing.

  13. We have to gain speed and reach close to the bar before jumping so that we will not short-jump. When jumping, the master legs lifts of the ground first so that we will jump higher.

  14. We have to run to gain momentum and when you are a good distance from the bar, we have to jump as high as posible using your preferred foot and then twist in the air to go a further distance.

  15. Make your steps smaller when get nearer to the bar to increase the momentum and launch off when you are near to the bar as close as possible. Also, to jump further use your master foot.

  16. We must gain momentum by sprinting towards the bar and jump as high as possible with our preferred foot near the bar. We should keep a relatively flat or slightly arched back over the bar in the mid air. We should not slam our hand onto the mat and instead we must make sure to tuck in our hands before landing so as to prevent muscle sprain. We should also not wear anything on the hand to prevent cuts with the force we land.
